In January 2008, the National TB Program, Ministry of Health and Ghana Health Services with technical assistance from the USAID | DELIVER PROJECT, designed a logistics system for TB medicines. This report presents the methods used to design the logistics system, the in country pipeline, the inventory control system, the logistics forms that will be used to manage the information by collecting essential logistics data and the implementation plan of the design in Ghana.

In March 2006, DELIVER conducted a nationally representative survey on the availability of selected health commodities at Ministry of Health (MOH) and nongovernmental organization (NGO) facilities throughout Malawi. The information provided through this survey, along with the results from any previous surveys, will allow the MOH and its partners to monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of the health commodity logistics system and to make adjustments as necessary. The Logistics Indicators Assessment Tool (LIAT), which was tailored in Malawi in 2004, was used again with minor adaptations to address current assessment needs. Comparative analysis was conducted with the results from the 2004 survey and to determine any change in the health commodity logistics system over the last two years.

This report describes the sequence of events, in 2002, when the Ugandan Ministry of Health (MOH) asked the DELIVER/Uganda project to help coordinate the quantification of commodities required for HIV/AIDS programs. In this final report, DELIVER technical advisors estimated requirements related to tuberculosis treatment and outlined gaps in the supply system for relevant commodities. Included is a description of the logistics systems for the MOH's TB program, whose structure has been maintained to this day.

This report explains the quantification methodology used for estimating the need for sexually transmitted infection (STI) drugs in the public and NGO sectors in Uganda from 2002-2004. The results of the drug assessment showed that, for STI purposes, some drugs would be oversupplied, while other drugs would be undersupplied. Short-term and long-term recommendations are included.

This report details the quantification methodology used to estimate the drug needs for opportunistic and intercurrent infections and conditions and palliative care in the public sector in Uganda for 2003. A primary assumption underlying the quantification was that antiretrovirals would not be widely available in the public sector. The report includes short-term and medium- to long-term recommendations.

This report details the results of an April 2002 assessment, when the Ministry of Health (MOH) only had on order or was stocking enough pharmaceuticals to treat malaria patients for three months, until July 2002. The MOH did not plan to purchase additional anti-malarial drugs. To prevent a current and future stockout, the MOH was advised to (1) develop a logistics management information system, (2) assess the impact of introducing sulphadoxine pyrimethamine and choloroquine in eight districts, (3) ensure that all MOH clinics knew about the new standard treatment guideline, and (4) consider streamlining the ordering process for drugs.

In December 2002, the DELIVER project conducted an assessment of distribution costs for the public supply chain for essential medicines in Uganda. DELIVER has produced a report that presents the findings of the assessment and how they were used for making decisions. It also explains the purpose of the study, how it was designed, what methods were used for data collection, and how the analysis was done.

The first USAID | DELIVER PROJECT Task Order 1 (TO1) annual report covers the period from October 2006 to September 2007. TO1 has been very effective and responsive in its first year of operation. The project continued field work in 21 countries, including 15 with field offices; provided D.C.-based support to USAID’s central contraceptive procurement system; established new core-funded teams; transitioned to a new management information system (MIS); and provided direct procurement services.
