Health programs succeed when the supply chain delivers a reliable, continuous supply of essential commodities to clients, so they can choose, obtain, and use these products when and where they are needed. An essential, but sometimes overlooked, component in creating a successful program is a well-conceived, well-operated, and well-maintained logistics system—one that can ensure an adequate supply of the health commodities that clients need. When a health facility is fully stocked with a wide range of essential health commodities, clients gain confidence in that facility and are more likely to return.
Using our more than 20 years of experience in designing and strengthening supply chain systems, the USAID | DELIVER PROJECT assists the development of health supply chains for a broad array of essential health commodities: family planning, malaria, avian influenza, HIV and AIDS-related medicines and supplies, laboratory reagents and supplies, and essential medicines.
