The International Association of Public Health Logisticians (IAPHL) Public health logisticians play a critical but often undervalued role in providing lifesaving health services. Especially in developing countries, supply chain management is often not recognized as a profession that requires specialized training.
The USAID | DELIVER PROJECT established The International Association of Public Health Logisticians (IAPHL) in 2007 to promote the professionalization of the field for public health logisticians through education and information sharing. IAPHL is dedicated to improving public health supply chain management by promoting the professional development of those who work with health supplies, including nurses, pharmacists, and others carrying out logistics tasks.
The association supports logisticians worldwide by providing a forum where members can network, exchange ideas, and improve their professional skills. IAPHL currently has more than 1,600 members from close to 100 countries worldwide.
Listserv activity currently averages one to two posts per day. This activity includes logistics questions and responses from members, facilitated discussions around key public health logistics topics, and training course and job announcements.
The project and John Snow, Inc., (JSI) are partnering to support IAPHL’s activities.
